Asian Beef Skewers

These Asian skewers are so easy and delicious to cook directly on the EGG grill. They have a delicious char grilled flavour outside and moist jucy center. You can prepare ahead of time and have the skewers ready to go for a quick easy party food. Just remember to bring them to room temperature first; this takes about 20 minutes after removing from the fridge. Try with grilled sweet corn, red peppers and bok choy and you'll be serving a wonderfully colourful meal, full of flavor that is also incredibly good for you. A winner all round.

Ingredients

Main

  • 1 1/2 lbs (0.7 kg) Boneless Rump Steak 

Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) brown sugar 
  • 4 tablespoons (60 ml) vegetable oil 
  • garlic cloves, finely minced 
  • 4 tablespoons (60 ml) rice wine vinegar 
  • 1/2 teaspoons (2.5 ml) red pepper flakes 
  • 4 tablespoons (60 ml) soy sauce 

Instructions

Step 1

Combine all ingredients for the marinade in a re-sealable bag or bowl and mix well. Add the cubed steak and allow to marinade for a minimum of an hour but longer if you can

Step 2

After the flavors have had time mingle, it's time to get threading

Step 3

Thread the cubes onto the skewers, Firewire Flexible if you have them or well soaked bamboo ones

Step 4

Add your skewers to the EGG and close the lid. For Medium/Rare you will need to cook for about 8 mins turning at 4 minutes. You should turn the skewers, just once.
