Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 quarts (1.4 L) hard cider (alcoholic) 
  • 6 2/3 tablespoons (100 ml) demerara sugar 
  • cinnamon sticks 
  • star anise 
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) allspice 
  •  peeled zest of 1 orange 
  •  peeled zest of 1 lemon 

Instructions

Step 1

*Tip: For a more boozy kick add some dark rum or sloe gin. For alcohol free swap cider for pressed apple juice.

Step 2

Place all of the ingredients in the Dutch Oven. Stir occasionally until the sugar has dissolved. Leave on a low heat for 10-15 minutes for all of the flavours to infuse.

Step 3

Pour through a sieve into a jug or pan, and ladle into heatproof glasses or cups.
