Whole Roast Chicken

This recipe is a superb example of how the EGG breathes magic into your meals. A simple chicken with a rub applied and then roasted within the EGG, delivers amazingly tasty results.   • 4 lbs (1.8 kg) Whole Chicken 

Rub

  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) dried oregano 
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) onion powder 
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) salt 
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ground black pepper 
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons (38 ml) paprika 
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) garlic powder 
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) dried thyme

Instructions

Step 1

Moisten with oil and then rub your bird with seasoning all over, including the cavity

Step 2

Stand your bird on the vertical chicken roaster and place on a round drip tray

Step 3

Set the bird on the Egg, set up for indirect cooking with the convEGGtor

Step 4

Cook for approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes

Step 5

Remove from the Egg and let stand for 5 minutes before carving
