Baked apples are especially delicious in the autumn time but make a good all year round dessert. We have used Grilling Rings to keep the apples upright whilst cooking, though you can stand the apples in a baking dish. You can't beat vanilla ice cream with these baked apples (we haven't been able to come up with a recipe for that one yet!!)
Use the cutting board to clean and core apples to 1/2 inch (1 cm) from the base. You can use a corer or a paring knife
Use a spoon to make the opening about an 1 inch (3 cm) wide
Stand the apples on the Grill Rings or place in a baking dish
In a small bowl combine the sugar, cinnamon, pecans and raisins. Mix well and then fill each of the apples
Top each apple with the remaining butter
Place the apples on the EGG that has been prepared for Indirect baking and cook for about 30-40 minutes
